Reliable support that gives families time to rest
Respite can give unpaid carers time to attend appointments, work, spend time with others or take a break while the person receives familiar, meaningful support.
Respite may include
- Daytime, evening, overnight or weekend support
- Support in the person’s own home
- Community activities and social opportunities
- Shopping, meal planning and cooking
- Medication prompting
- Household routines
- Support with hobbies, education or employment goals
Before support begins
We learn the person’s routines, communication, preferences, risks, emergency arrangements, relevant health information and what helps them feel comfortable.
Consistency
Where possible, we aim to provide familiar staff, clear introductions, reliable visit times and advance notice of changes.
Funding
Respite may be funded through Direct Payments, personal budgets, local authority arrangements, private funding or a combination of routes.
AIR Care currently provides non-personal respite support and does not provide personal care.
